I'm not a writer... like at all, but I still love to blog. I love to see how all of the photos from a wedding or session come together. It's like a visual story of the day.

The twins turn 1!

The twins turn 1 today. That’s a pretty big milestone for our family. A year ago we didn’t know what the future held. Would we have healthy babies? Would I keep working or stay home? Would we be able to pay our bills? Amry Rose was born a healthy 7lbs 15oz and Anna Leigh 7lbs 9oz. All three of us left the hospital with no complications whatsoever. Whew! We spent the next 3 months feeding and changing babies around the clock. I rarely slept more than 2 hours at a time. I think we survived on adrenaline. I quit my job and decided to stay home with the girls. I just can’t believe it’s been a year. I guess time flies when you’re happy and having fun.
The weather last week was beautiful. I was hoping it would stay warm enough so we could shoot their 1 year pictures outside. I’m obsessed with shooting at Prairie Oaks, even more so in the fall. I always have such high hopes for taking milestone photos of my girls and they rarely live up to what I envision. I have high standards I guess. Let me tell you, taking photos of not 1 but 2 babies is hard. Especially when you’re trying to be both mom and photographer. So we loaded up some chairs, the wagon, snacks and toys and headed out to the park. I told myself I’d be happy with whatever we got. Well we must have caught them on a good day because they made Mommy very happy with their photos. Here’s the play by play.
The trick was to not show them the chairs until we were all set up and ready to go. I’m amazed the headbands stayed on the entire time too. They started out on the serious side and then busted out the smiles. I did NOT have to Photoshop a single face this time around. Usually someone’s eyes are closed or 1 kid (Amry) isn’t smiling but they were on point today.

Not paying attention.

Back in the wagon and off to find a new spot to shoot.

Of course Amry would bust out her big smiles right when I have some major sun flare going on.

She fell off the log. Too busy goofing off.

Anna decided not to sit on the log. I guess she saw Amry fall off and decide that wasn’t going to happen to her too.

She’s showing Daddy her stick.

Ava wanted in on the action too. Right before we left home she had to change her dress. She picked it out herself.

One more photo before we let them run wild.

This one wanted to stay and play in the dirt. She’s not happy she got put back in the wagon.
