I'm not a writer... like at all, but I still love to blog. I love to see how all of the photos from a wedding or session come together. It's like a visual story of the day.
EXPLORE
In the spring I attended my first ever photography workshop. Yep, I’ve been shooting for years before I actually attended a workshop. I had no idea what a styled shoot even was and I thought all photography workshops cost thousands of dollars in fees, travel and lodging. So instead I put my money into new equipment and not education. That is until I found the Rising Tide Society and Tuesdays Together. Mind. Blown. I’ve learned there are other photographers out there that believe in community over competition. We should learn from each other and build one another up no matter the stages of our careers or businesses. I thought I was too “old” to attend a workshop but Kari’s workshop was great because it didn’t matter how long you’ve been behind a lens, there’s always something to learn. My biggest take away was finally learning how to do back button focusing. A so called expert like me should have been shooting while using the back button but I never knew what it was. I’m now working with my all time favorite lens (Sigma 35mm art), favorite camera (Canon 5d mark iii) and a wealth of knowledge and inspiration from Kari. I’ve got four weddings this fall and I’m ready to shoot.
Kari just announced her fall workshops so if you’ve never taken one before I highly recommend it. You can check it out here. Her images from this shoot have been featured on 100 Layer Cake. You can see her feature here and read her blog here. Check out all of these amazing vendors that helped put this whole thing together. So much pretty was happening out in that field.
