I'm not a writer... like at all, but I still love to blog. I love to see how all of the photos from a wedding or session come together. It's like a visual story of the day.
EXPLORE
Samantha and I had this weekend planned for engagement photos way back in the spring. They wanted to shoot in Cincinnati and I was more than happy to oblige. I love an excuse to get out of the house and explore something new. As the date approached, I realized the sunset photos along the river that I had envisioned weren’t going to happen. Time to start coming up with a new plan. Thanks to my Instagram research I came upon A. J. Rahn Greenhouses. I’ve always wanted to shoot a greenhouse session and this seemed like the perfect time. You get all of the natural light and none of the rain. The weather must have scared everyone else away because we had the place to ourselves for an hour. It was perfect. 🙂
The greenhouse just happened to be across the street from Spring Grove Cemetery. It sounds a little morbid but stick with me. The cemetery has some beautiful little covered chapels that I discovered in my Instagram sleuthing. The first chapel we drove by had a wedding happening at the time so we drove on to look for another one. The next one had a locked gate but was deserted and beautiful so we used the umbrellas. That cemetery was seriously gorgeous. If it wasn’t raining I could’ve explored that place for hours.
Our last stop was Mt. Echo Park up on one of the hills on the southwest side of the city. It had a covered area with columns. Unfortunately the wind was more than I had bargained for. We still got some great shots but nothing overlooking the city. In the end, I’m happy it rained because it made me get creative.
Samantha and Derek were so awesome and patient through it all. They are professionals at standing and kissing under an umbrella now. If it rains for their spring wedding, we’ll know exactly what to do. I may bring those umbrellas with me rain or shine.
Special thanks to my friend and host Angela Obeso for navigating us through Cincinnati. She took her job of holding the umbrella over me and my camera seriously. No damage to my camera or hair occurred.
